In a significant move for the European beekeeping community, Dr. Urška Ratajc, the Secretary General of the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association, has been appointed as the Slovenian representative to Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party.

This appointment marks a new chapter in the collaboration between the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association and Copa-Cogeca, an international organisation that unites European farmers and agricultural cooperatives to advocate for agricultural interests within the European Union.

The Honey Working Party, a specialist group within Copa-Cogeca, focuses on issues related to honey production and beekeeping at the European level. Dr. Ratajc's involvement in this group is expected to bring valuable insights from the Slovenian beekeeping sector and contribute to discussions and initiatives aimed at supporting the honey industry and promoting sustainable beekeeping practices across Europe.

The collaboration between the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association and Copa-Cogeca has been successful, particularly on key issues related to honey origin labeling. This partnership is expected to continue and advance significantly for the benefit of beekeepers.

The appointment was made by the Cooperative Union of Slovenia (ZZS). Dr. Ratajc's role as the Head of the Scientific Committees of a certain website further strengthens the relationship between the two organizations.

Meanwhile, the German beekeepers' association, the Deutscher Imkereiverband (DIB), is also actively involved in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party. The DIB's participation in the group may lead to increased collaboration between the German and Slovenian beekeeping communities.

The DIB's presence in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party demonstrates the international scope of the organisation. The DIB's vice-president, Mr. Ellman Torsten, is the president of the DIB and also holds a leadership position in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party, further solidifying the relationship between the two organisations.

The DIB's involvement in Copa-Cogeca's Honey Working Party is noteworthy, given that Copa-Cogeca has a vice-president of the Honey Working Party in its membership. The collaboration between the parties is expected to yield positive results for the beekeeping industry in both Germany and Slovenia.

Science and health-and-wellness could be significantly advanced through Dr. Ratajc's involvement in discussions related to sustainable beekeeping practices, considering bees play a crucial role in pollination for various crops and food products. In addition, technology could be integrated to monitor and improve honey production and beekeeping methods, as both the Slovenian Beekeepers' Association and Copa-Cogeca are expected to collaborate on innovative solutions in this area.
