ASF's Family Fund Transforms Lives of Angelman Syndrome Families

The Angelman Syndrome Foundation (ASF) has collaborated with various organisations to provide vital financial aid to families caring for individuals with Angelman syndrome. Since its establishment in 2019, the ASF Family Fund has distributed over $260,000 in assistance, transforming the lives of numerous families worldwide.

The fund offers up to $5,000 to eligible families, with applications open twice a year in April and October. Recipients can anticipate a response by the end of May or December, respectively. Funds can be utilized for essential items such as communication devices, travel costs to ASF Angelman Syndrome Clinics, safety equipment, or adaptive play equipment.

Past recipients include Rhiann, who received an iPad, and another family that purchased a special needs stroller for their son. Families must wait three years before reapplying to ensure the fund reaches as many people as possible.

In 2023, ASF partnered with Keech Hospice Care in the UK, providing up to £15,000 per family through the ASF Family Fund. Additionally, a new alliance between ASF, Angelman UK, and the Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society (CASS) offers financial assistance to families in the UK.

The ASF Family Fund continues to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with Angelman syndrome and their families. By providing financial aid for essential items and experiences, the fund helps to enhance the quality of life for those affected by this condition. With ongoing partnerships and twice-annual application periods, the fund ensures that more families can access the support they need.
