Atypical physical education classes unfold in the city's heart

In the heart of Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, outdoor fitness training sessions are back for the third consecutive year, aiming to help schoolchildren and youth spend their free time effectively and avoid harmful habits. These sessions, which are open to everyone, including men, women, children aged 6 and above, and people with disabilities, are being held at two locations: the "Triathlon" park and the newly added "Koktal" park.

The training sessions, part of the "Astana - City Without Drugs" campaign, are scheduled for 19:00 and 20:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays until September 1. The sessions are free and are led by professional fighter and trainer Vasily Tukhtai, who has been involved with the project since its inception.

Last year, around 500 visits were recorded for these sessions, which were held only at the "Triathlon" park. This year, the expansion to the "Koktal" park is a welcome addition, providing more opportunities for participants to engage in these fitness activities.

The opening ceremony of the sessions was attended by Deputy Head of the Directorate for the Organization of Mass Sports Events of the Astana Akimat, Yerzhigit Osherbay, and featured a demonstration by champion of the strongman competition Kuanysh Sharipbekuly, who showcased his skills by bending iron and nails.

Vasily Tukhtai, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading these sessions, emphasised that the project provides a positive outlet for schoolchildren and youth, helping them to stay active and steer clear of harmful habits. If there is demand, the project intends to continue and expand to other cities.
