BARMER Names Birgit Dziuk as New State Managing Director in Saxony-Anhalt

BARMER, one of Germany's leading statutory health insurers, has announced Birgit Dziuk as its new State Managing Director in Saxony-Anhalt. She will take over from October 1, 2025, succeeding Axel Wiedemann who is retiring. Dziuk, who joined BARMER in 2017, brings a wealth of experience from various roles in health insurance. Dziuk's career spans over two decades in the health insurance sector. She has held diverse positions at AOK and BKK, honing her skills in cross-payer expertise and leadership. Before BARMER, she served as State Managing Director in Thuringia. In her new role, Dziuk will represent the interests of around 240,000 insured individuals in Saxony-Anhalt. Dziuk's predecessor, Jens-Uwe Schwenk, has led BARMER in Saxony-Anhalt. Now, Dziuk aims to make the health care system future-proof through targeted changes. She hopes to foster closer cooperation among health care providers in the region. Birgit Dziuk's appointment signals BARMER's commitment to driving progress in Saxony-Anhalt's health care landscape. With her extensive experience and vision for the future, Dziuk is set to lead BARMER's efforts in improving the region's health care system, ensuring it meets the needs of its residents.
