Business Report for West Herr WBEN Buffalo from September 16, 2025

In a series of significant updates, several companies and organizations have announced changes that will positively impact their employees and the communities they serve.

Paid Holiday and Wage Increase

Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States, has been officially recognised as a paid holiday, and employees will receive time and a half for work performed on this day. Additionally, a general wage increase has been implemented, retroactive to July 1, aiming to boost the income of workers.

Referral Bonus Expansion

In a move to encourage employee referrals, the referral bonus has been expanded to include all job titles, providing an incentive for current employees to recommend qualified candidates for open positions.

Substation Modernization

NYSEG, a leading energy provider, has initiated the modernization of the South Perry Substation in Wyoming County. This $83 million project, set to replace decades-old infrastructure, will increase energy reliability for over 8,500 customers in the community. The company has already invested $23 million in the western yard in the first phase of the project back in 2019.

Healthcare Leadership Transition

Dr. Myron Glick, the founder of Jericho Road Community Health Center, is stepping down from his role as CEO but will continue to serve as a family doctor and public health advocate within the organization. Dr. Allana Krolikowski, the current Chief Medical Officer, will assume the CEO position on Oct. 6. The new CEO will oversee a three-year contract recently ratified by mental health workers at BryLin Hospital in Buffalo, which includes an additional general wage increase of 12% over the contract term.

Contract Settlement and Job Classification Upgrades

The contract settlement, reached without any concessions, includes increased contributions towards health insurance and certain job classifications receiving upgrades. Mental health workers at BryLin Hospital in Buffalo have also requested and received expanded sign-on bonuses for RNs, LPNs, and Mental Health Technicians.

Construction Scope

The scope of the new construction includes a full rebuild of the eastern yard and additional upgrades to the western yard at a substation located on Middle Reservation Road. The project will significantly modernize the facility, featuring two separate facilities for improved energy efficiency and reliability.

These updates reflect a commitment to employee well-being, community development, and modernization across various sectors, signaling a promising future for those involved.
