The Global EbA Fund recently organised a regional grantee learning exchange workshop from October 13-17, 2024, in Cali, Colombia. This workshop marked the first in a series of regional learning exchange workshops aimed at fostering collaboration and advancing ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) implementation in the region.

The event brought together 12 Global EbA Fund grantees from nine countries in Central and South America, including Peru and Ecuador. The workshop provided a platform for these organisations to share their diverse experiences and learnings on EbA, with a focus on exchanging lessons learned on integrating EbA into national policy commitments, such as NAPs, NDCs, and NBSAPs.

The Global EbA Fund, with a portfolio of over 50 projects worldwide, offered a wealth of experience and innovation in EbA. The workshop explored linking biodiversity conservation and ecosystem health for climate action, and aimed to accelerate finance and unlock investments for the implementation of EbA.

The sessions also focused on monitoring and evaluating functional data and science supporting the integration of climate and biodiversity. Participants were able to identify synergies between projects and explore potential areas for collaboration to foster EbA in Latin America.

The workshop was part of the events leading up to the CBD COP16, and provided an opportunity for networking with other organisations working on EbA issues in various countries and contexts. The Global EbA Fund is looking forward to organising more regional learning exchange workshops in the future.
