Child unlawfully taken, subjected to mistreatment
In a shocking incident, a six-year-old girl was abducted from the popular water park Rulantica in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The suspect, a 31-year-old Romanian man, is wanted for charges of suspected sexual abuse of a child.
The abduction occurred on a busy evening, around 8:20 PM. The girl, who was wearing a light blue bikini top and pink swim shorts, was led away from her family inside the water park by the suspect. He reportedly led her through a wooded area towards a gravel pit east of the park, where the abuse took place.
Two hours later, a witness found the girl five kilometers away from the water park, near the neighboring town of Kappel-Grafenhausen, in her swimwear. Although she was not physically injured, she is likely to be traumatized.
The suspect was identified through surveillance videos from the water park. He has a prior criminal history involving theft and fraud but no earlier sexual offenses. Law enforcement agencies are conducting an international search for him, as he is believed to have fled the country.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in crowded venues such as Rulantica, which accommodates up to 5,000 visitors daily. The police are searching for the suspect and are appealing for any witnesses who may have information about his movements or exact criminal record details.
Ongoing investigations seek to clarify the suspect's activities since the abduction. Recent updates as of August 2025 confirm that the manhunt is active, but there has been no public report of his arrest or capture.
The affected water park, Rulantica, is located in South Baden. It was opened in Rust in November 2019. The police have searched the suspect's apartment on Tuesday. The name Rulantica is a play on words from "Rust" and "Atlantic".
The suspect is accused of forcing the girl to perform sexual acts. An arrest warrant has been issued for him. The investigation into the abduction case continues. The parents of the abducted girl lost their daughter in the water park on Saturday evening.
