Clown College Attendee Carrying a Gold Handgun Displays Inadequate Operational Security Measures
In April of 2023, Liliana Goodson, a 30-year-old American, was arrested at Sydney airport for possession of a 24-carat gold-plated pistol. The pistol, valued at $3,000, was stowed away in Goodson's luggage, a fact that came to light during the subsequent court proceedings.
According to reports, Goodson claimed that she had forgotten about the weapon. However, her phone review revealed a search for 'can I have a gun in my suitcase?' and a calendar entry reminding her to 'put gun in suitcase.'
Goodson stated that she was in Australia to attend clown school and brought the weapon for 'protection.' She also told local officials that she is 'scared' of firing the weapon and her plan was to use it for pistol whipping if threatened.
However, Australia's government frowns upon non-residents illegally importing firearms into their country. The country has strict gun laws, and Goodson's actions were in clear violation of these regulations.
In addition to the gold-plated pistol, it was previously reported that Goodson brought a 'cat spine, squirrel feet, and rabbit pee' into the country. While she declared these items, they did not pose a legal issue.
Goodson's attorney, Chris Davis, stated that Goodson was suffering from mental health issues at the time of the incident and regrets her actions. Davis also mentioned that Goodson is capable of rehabilitation.
Despite this, Goodson has been sentenced to one year in jail for the offense. The name of her attorney who represented her in court was not publicly disclosed.
The apparent dialogue between Goodson and customs agents was divulged during the court proceedings, shedding light on Goodson's not altogether coherent answers about the gold-plated gun.
