Collaboration of Truecaller with Khyaal to safeguard elderly individuals against fraudulent schemes
Truecaller, a popular communication app with over a billion downloads, has partnered with Khyaal, India's leading app for senior citizens, to create a robust and secure shield for trusted, reliable communication.
The collaboration aims to address the growing concern of digital scams targeting the elderly population in India. Hemanshu Jain, Founder & CEO of Khyaal, expressed his concerns about seniors losing savings to such scams.
Truecaller's caller identification technology will be used to protect seniors from scams. The partnership combines Khyaal's deep engagement with seniors and understanding of their needs with Truecaller's technology.
The partnership extends beyond digital boundaries through Khyaal's "50Above50" event, featuring interactive awareness sessions and dedicated safety booths. These initiatives will be delivered through a mix of digital and on-ground formats, with seniors having access to the workshops and sessions on the Khyaal app.
As part of the safety initiative, Khyaal members will receive a 50% discount on Truecaller Premium membership. The Premium subscription includes enhanced spam blocking and several advanced safety features to better protect senior citizens against fraudulent and unwanted communication.
In 2024 alone, Truecaller identified and blocked close to 56 billion unwanted calls. This technology will be a valuable addition to Khyaal's existing efforts to raise awareness about digital scams through digital workshops.
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Global CEO of Truecaller, stated that the partnership is a meaningful step toward equipping seniors with the knowledge and tools to navigate the digital landscape safely.
Khyaal, with over 3 million seniors using it, is India's number one app for senior citizens. Over 450 million active users rely on Truecaller for everyday communication.
The educational content and workshops created through this partnership include "New Scam Highlights" sessions, interactive "Spot the Scam" workshops and contests, essential guidelines for handling calls from unknown numbers, and powerful testimonials from Khyaal seniors. These initiatives are designed to create a safer digital environment for India’s elderly population.
