Complimentary Offerings: Yoga, Self-Defense Classes, and Walking Sessions
In the heart of Kazakhstan, Astana is promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for its residents through a series of free sports and fitness projects. These initiatives, including Aulafit, "Start with Yourself," yoga, Nordic walking, Funny Sport, and boxing classes led by Vasily Tukhtai, are aimed at encouraging active lifestyles and accessible sports participation.
Aulafit, a group fitness or wellness program, is one such initiative aimed at promoting physical activity. It is supported by the Akimat of Astana and has been running for five consecutive years. Free classes are held in 30 courtyards across six districts of the city, from Monday to Saturday, until the end of September. There are no age restrictions for participants.
Funny Sport, a summer project, is designed to strengthen health and foster an active lifestyle in society. It was first launched in 2020 and is open to everyone, from children to the elderly. Classes are held three times a week in the evenings at six parks in the capital until September. The exact schedule and detailed information can be found on the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Astana and the Aulafit project's social media pages.
Yoga and Nordic walking are also available for residents to promote physical and mental well-being. Starting from August, residents and guests of the city will be offered free yoga and Nordic walking classes within the summer sports project Funny Sport.
For those interested in boxing, free classes with famous boxer Vasily Tukhtai are held in the capital for the third year in a row. This year, Koktal Park is included in the program.
Last year, within the framework of the Aulafit project, 15 professional trainers worked with 3000 enthusiasts in 30 courtyards of the capital. The sports-social project Aulafit, self-defense training project "Start with Yourself," yoga, Nordic walking, and the summer sports project Funny Sport are currently available to city residents in Astana.
These community-focused activities are part of Astana's broader efforts to encourage health, inclusion, and community engagement through sports. For precise schedules, enrollment methods, and venues, contacting Astana city sports authorities or community centers directly would provide comprehensive and up-to-date information.
The acting head of the capital's Department of Physical Culture and Sports, Azaamat AGZAMOV, discussed these projects at a briefing at the Communication Service of Astana. He emphasized the importance of these initiatives in promoting mass sports among Astana residents.
