Courses Mandatory on Alcohol Awareness, Sexual Misconduct Prevention, and Mental Health Support

Georgetown University is taking proactive steps to ensure the well-being of its students for the upcoming spring semester. All new incoming first-year undergraduate students and first-time transfer students are required to complete a series of online trainings focused on mental health, alcohol education, healthy relationships, and sexual violence prevention.

The online courses, titled Binge Thinking!, U Got This!, and Mental Well-Being, launch on Monday, August 18, and the deadline for completion is Wednesday, September 10. To access each course, students simply need to click on the respective link provided. These interactive, educational programs are designed to promote self-care, coping skills, and self-advocacy.

Binge Thinking! is a 45-minute course that focuses on alcohol education, while U Got This! and Mental Well-Being are 60-minute courses that address sexual violence prevention and mental health awareness, respectively.

In addition to the online courses, a mandatory in-person bystander intervention training is also required. This training, running from Wednesday, September 10 to October 25, can be registered for via Eventbrite. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Make-up sessions prior to registration are not guaranteed.

The university has also made additional mental and emotional well-being resources available on the Every Hoya Cares website. For those who believe taking the Sexual Violence Prevention course may be triggering, they can contact a Georgetown University confidential resource at sarp@our website.edu.

Georgetown University is deeply committed to the health, welfare, and success of all students. Technical support for the courses can be found on the FAQs site. Resources and ways to report sexual misconduct can be found in the Resource Center.

Failure to complete these trainings will result in a hold on a student's account, preventing registration for spring 2026 classes. Students are also required to complete the New Student Orientation (NSO) Pre-Arrival Modules.

Georgetown University is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students. By completing these trainings, students will be better prepared to navigate the challenges of college life and contribute to a positive campus culture.
