According to a recent study, 15% of medical care center doctors and 18% of clinic doctors employ AI. The technology holds promise for making healthcare more personalized and efficient, particularly in preventative medicine and treatment, as asserted by Bitkom President Ralf Wintergerst. However, 77% of respondents expressed feelings of insufficient preparation for the use of such technology.
As of April 2022, the electronic patient record was launched nationwide following a trial phase, remaining voluntary for doctors, pharmacies, and hospitals until mandatory use is instated from October 1, 2025. Patients have the option to actively opt out of its use.
