Dubai Health Authority Introduces AI Education to Spur Digital Advancement in Healthcare Sector

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has embarked on a significant training initiative to prepare its workforce for the digital future of healthcare, as part of a city-wide strategy to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the healthcare sector.

With over 25% of its staff already trained and over 200 professionals completing additional AI-related courses, DHA is making a concerted effort to upskill its workforce in AI technologies. This initiative is supported by key local institutions such as the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai Centre for AI Applications, fostering an innovation-led health workforce.

The training programme offers flexible, role-specific AI training, with a focus on generative AI and prompt engineering for DHA staff. Simultaneously, the "Executive Diploma in Enabling AI in the Healthcare Sector," developed in collaboration with ESCP Business School, targets DHA leaders and department heads, focusing on strategic decision-making, integration of smart solutions, and global best practices.

Another programme, delivered via LinkedIn Learning, is aimed at 200 employees in technical and analytical roles. This comprehensive approach ensures that the DHA workforce is equipped with the knowledge and skills to leverage AI tools for improving patient care, diagnostics, and medical outcomes.

AI applications in Dubai’s healthcare sector are already making a tangible impact. By combining AI with X-rays, for instance, faster and more accurate disease detection is now possible, easing the workload of specialists like radiologists and enabling doctors to focus more on holistic patient care.

This AI training aligns with Dubai’s broader AI and digital transformation goals, including the citywide DUB.AI initiative and the Dubai AI Academy, which train thousands of professionals and leaders across sectors in AI leadership, ethical AI frameworks, and implementation of AI in government workflows.

The DHA's involvement ensures that healthcare is a central focus in Dubai's move towards AI-powered services, helping build a future-ready workforce capable of sustaining advanced, AI-enabled health systems. The initiative also aims to enhance data-driven decision-making and boost productivity.

Private healthcare providers are being encouraged to join the effort as strategic partners, further strengthening Dubai's push to become a global leader in smart healthcare. This comprehensive training approach aims to future-proof Dubai’s healthcare system by embedding AI capabilities and fostering an adaptive, skilled workforce ready for digital healthcare challenges.

Recently, DHA recognised several staff who completed the programme, demonstrating its commitment to human capital development and its recognition of the importance of AI in the digital transformation of healthcare.
