Elder Bicyclists Prevail in Borken's Senior Cycling Community

The Borken Police Department has announced a new initiative called "Senior Cycling", focusing on safety and prevention for older cyclists. This programme is part of the district's prevention work and will take place regularly in the future.

The first "Senior Cycling" event is scheduled for 25th September 2025 in Borken, with a kick-off event taking place in Gronau on 28th August 2025. Further events are scheduled for 9th October 2025 in the Bocholt area and 30th October 2025 in the Ahaus area.

The "Senior Cycling" concept is designed to cater to a maximum of twelve participants, allowing for individual attention. The programme will provide tips on behaviour at intersections, roundabouts, proper use of bike lanes, and the importance of safety equipment, including helmets, lights, and traffic-safe equipment.

Experts will discuss critical traffic situations experienced firsthand during "Senior Cycling". The route guidance for "Senior Cycling" is based on accident hotspots in the Borken district.

The Borken District has the highest ownership rate of pedelecs nationwide, making this initiative particularly relevant. Registration for the event can be done by phone at 02861-900-6161.

The "Senior Cycling" action in Borken, Bocholt, and Ahaus starting from September 25, 2025, is organized by the German Red Cross (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz, DRK) in the Borken district.

For media inquiries, contact names include Sandra Biedermann (sb), Leonie Dreier (ld), Markus Huels (mh), Peter Lefering (pl), Thorsten Ohm (to), Muzeyyen Sander (ms), and Tina Schellberg (ts). This announcement was made by the Borken Police Department and was transmitted via news aktuell.
