French Medtech Firm RDS Secures €14m for Reusable Patient Monitor

French medical technology company RDS has secured €14m in a Series A funding round. The funding will support the acceleration of the development and commercialisation of its MultiSense patch, a wearable device for remote patient monitoring.

The MultiSense patch, designed to be cleaned, refurbished, and reused, has already been used in 15 hospitals across France, Belgium, and Germany. It monitors six key physiological indicators, providing accurate remote patient data to medical professionals.

The funding round was led by SPI-Fonds, managed by Bpifrance on behalf of the French state, with participation from Critical Path Ventures and other investors. RDS plans to use the funds to expand its sales team and scale up production and refurbishing capacities in France, Germany, and other European markets. Further clinical trials are planned for Europe, with a US launch targeted for 2028.

The global market for vital signs monitoring is forecast to reach €13bn in 2023 and is expected to grow by an average of 15% per year until 2030. RDS aims to capitalise on this growth with its innovative, eco-friendly MultiSense solution.

RDS' successful funding round will enable it to accelerate the commercialisation of its MultiSense patch, expanding its reach across Europe and preparing for a US launch. The company's focus on sustainability and accurate remote patient monitoring positions it well in the growing vital signs monitoring market.
