A New Lease on Life for Women Employees in Bihar! 🏡👩‍💼

Government chooses to offer rented housing to all female employees within the administration in Bihar.

Woo-hoo! The government has a plan brewing to make life a bit easier for the approximately 4 lakh women staffers in Bihar, including those from panchayat level all the way up to the state secretariat! 💪💼

Here's what's happening: During a recent cabinet meeting, led by the one and only Nitish Kumar, the decision was made to provide residential accommodations to women employees, situated near their workplace. This fresh initiative hopes to boost safety, convenience, and overall work environment for women scattered across rural and urban areas. 🏠🌆

So, what's this all about? Let's dive in! 🌊

Under the proposed plan, the government will take on lease some residential units owned by private parties and builders for a set period, then hand these accommodations over to the employees – from the lowly panchayat level up to high-ranking officials in the state secretariat. Yes, you heard that right – these accommodations come at no cost to you! 🙅‍♀️💸

You might wonder, "Why now?" The government shared that this move is aimed at attracting – and keeping – women employees, a group that's crucial to their success, especially with the upcoming elections on the horizon. 🗳️🗳️

But that's not all! A five-member committee will be assembled to scour the districts, identifying prime properties to rent for the scheme. District magistrates (DMs) will lead these committees, ensuring things run smoothly and efficiently. If any challenges arise regarding housing issues, sub-divisional officers (SDOs) will be on hand to provide assistance and resolve any issues promptly. 💼🤝🏼

So, how many women will benefit from this initiative? The government estimates that about 3.5 to 4 lakh women employees, including some 25,000 women in the state police force, will reap the benefits of this proposal. 🤩🙌🏼

Interestingly, a similar proposal was floated by the education department in 2023, aiming to offer rented accommodations to teachers posted in remote areas. Unfortunately, this plan didn't receive a thumbs-up from the government, as most teachers found comfortable arrangements near their hometowns and preferred receiving House Rent Allowance (HRA) instead. 🙅‍♀️💰

In other exciting news, the cabinet also green-lit the creation of 8,414 new posts, including a whopping 8,093 lower class clerks in more than 8,000 panchayats across the state! Adding to that, a mega skill centre worth ₹281 crore will be established to train around 21,600 youths. 🎓🙌🏼

Last but not least, the government has approved 36 new posts for the Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan Orthopedic Hospital in Patna to establish a sports injury unit, along with 267 additional posts in the same hospital. 🏥🏈
