Guide to Signing Up for First Aid Training in Altai Region
In the heart of Russia's Altai region, the city of Biysk is taking a significant step towards community preparedness with the launch of the "I Care!" initiative. This project, part of the broader "Ready for Sanitary Defense" programme, is an additional effort to equip local residents with lifesaving first aid skills.
The Minister of Health for the region, Dmitry Popov, underscores the importance of such knowledge, stating that knowing first aid can save lives. The "I Care!" initiative aims to further educate residents of Biysk on emergency first aid, with a focus on handling various situations such as cardiac arrest, bleeding, poisoning, and seizures.
The training, which is part of the "Ready for Sanitary Defense" project, is conducted using simulators and involves volunteers for hands-on practice. Over 1500 specialists have been trained in the region, and these trained individuals are now teaching others how to assist in emergencies.
The impact of such a project is far-reaching. It raises awareness and preparedness for emergency medical situations, empowers community members with practical first aid skills, and reduces fatalities and worsening of injuries through timely intervention. Furthermore, it potentially fosters a culture of care and responsibility towards others’ health and safety in Biysk and the broader Altai region.
Since the project's inception, a 24/7 hotline has been available for consultations in emergency situations. Since April, specialists have conducted over 547 phone tutorials on this hotline.
The "Ready for Sanitary Defense" project was launched by the Ministry of Health of the Altai region in late 2024. The project's goal is to equip local residents with first aid skills, with over 91,000 residents of the Altai region having already mastered basic medical skills through this project.
