The Gomel Region's State Health Inspectorate has identified two harmful products that have been removed from sale - the popular green bay leaf tea TESS STYLE and sunflower halva, both produced by the Russian company "ORIMI".

Laboratory tests have revealed that the green bay leaf tea TESS STYLE in single-use tea bags is harmful to buyers, containing excessive mold levels. This discovery follows the earlier ban of sunflower halva from the same factory, due to its high cadmium content.

The sunflower halva, weighing 350g, has been found to contain excessive amounts of cadmium, a toxic metal. This is not the first time a product from ORIMI has been found harmful. Previously, sunflower halva with raisins from the same factory was also banned for containing excessive cadmium.

Cadmium can cause serious poisoning, kidney and liver damage, nervous system disorders, and increased cancer risk. Similarly, the mold found in the green bay leaf tea TESS STYLE can cause allergic reactions, breathing problems, and even poisoning.

The Gomel Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health reported the issues with both products. They urged consumers to exercise caution and to avoid purchasing these items.

The batch of the green bay leaf tea TESS STYLE with a production date of February 2025 and an expiration date of January 2028 is being removed from sale. The harmful green bay leaf tea TESS STYLE and the dangerous sunflower halva were found by the Gomel Region's State Health Inspectorate.

It's important to note that there are no search results indicating who produced the Green Bay Leaf Tea TESS STYLE that was found to be contaminated. Consumers are advised to check the origin of their products carefully to ensure they are not purchasing harmful items.

This incident serves as a reminder to always prioritise safety and to be vigilant when purchasing food products. The authorities are working to address this issue and to ensure the safety of consumers in the Gomel Region.
