Health Administrative Body in Contra Costa County Designates Dr. Ori Tzvieli as Interim Health Director

Contra Costa County Appoints Interim Health Services Director

Martinez, CA - The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors has appointed Dr. Ori Tzvieli as interim director of health services while the county searches for a permanent Chief Executive Officer and Health Director for Contra Costa Health (CCH).

Effective March 11, 2025, Dr. Tzvieli will juggle his roles as the county's Health Officer and interim leader, having been with CCH since 2000. His extensive career within the health system includes tenures as Medical Staff President, Ambulatory Care Medical Director, and Public Health Director.

Throughout his tenure with CCH, Tzvieli has been instrumental in public health initiatives, particularly opioid addiction treatment, COVID-19 response efforts, and various community wellness programs. He takes over from longtime CCH CEO and Health Director Anna M. Roth, who retired in February. Roth had been overseeing a $3 billion integrated health system serving over a million residents.

Board Chair and District 2 Supervisor Candace Andersen lauded Roth’s leadership and expressed confidence in Tzvieli's ability to carry on the county's mission. "Anna has been a transformative leader for Contra Costa Health, and while we will deeply miss her visionary leadership, we are confident in and excited about Ori's expertise and dedication," Andersen said.

The county will soon initiate an open recruitment process to find a permanent replacement for the vacated position.
