High Altitude's Pressure Drop Triggers Unusual Body Symptoms, as Described in the Qur'an

A decrease in atmospheric pressure, often experienced at high altitudes, can trigger a range of unusual symptoms in the human body. This phenomenon, described in medical science, also finds mention in the Holy Qur'an, highlighting its miraculous nature and the prophethood of Muhammad.

At around 2,500 meters (8,200 feet) above sea level, the body starts to feel the effects of reduced atmospheric pressure and oxygen deficiency. Symptoms like headaches, nausea, fatigue, and breathing difficulties can set in, a condition known as acute mountain sickness (AMS). As altitude increases, the body responds by increasing pulse rate, breathing, and blood pressure to compensate for the lack of oxygen. However, at 16,000 feet, the body's ability to adapt starts to falter, and symptoms become more pronounced.

Above 10,000 feet, there's a significant decrease in both oxygen and atmospheric pressure, leading to physiological changes. One such change is a feeling of closeness and constriction in the breast, as described in the Qur'an: 'He makes his breast closed and constricted, as if he were climbing up into the sky'. This sensation becomes more intense at 25,000 feet, where the body struggles to cope with the unfamiliar height. Above 25,000 feet, loss of consciousness can occur, necessitating pressurized cabins in aircraft flying higher than 40,000 feet.

The decrease in atmospheric pressure at high altitudes can cause a variety of physical symptoms, including a constricted breast, as described in the Holy Qur'an. This phenomenon, backed by medical science, serves as evidence of the Qur'an's miraculous nature and the prophethood of Muhammad.
