Involvement of the Commission extends to the planning of the programme spanning the years 2000-2006.
The Regensburg District Administration, in collaboration with the Catholic Adult Education, is set to participate in the 6th Bavarian Dementia Week by organising three events aimed at raising awareness and providing support for those affected by dementia.
During the week, which runs from September 19 to 28, 2025, the district will host a series of informative sessions and workshops, culminating in the "Memory Box - Our Treasure Chest" workshop on September 24, 2025. This interactive event, scheduled for 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, invites participants to create memory boxes with people with dementia and their relatives.
The workshop is just one of the events being held at the Regensburg District Administration, Altmühlstraße 3, 93059 Regensburg, in the Large Conference Room, Room 4.035. On September 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, a lecture titled "Staying Mentally Fit - Preventing Dementia with 10 Measures" will be delivered by Gerlinde Weigert.
Another lecture, "Dementia in the Hospital", will be presented by Anton Stiglmaier, Specialist Nurse in the Emergency Department at the University Hospital Regensburg, on September 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
These events come at a crucial time, as more than a third of people over 90 show dementia-related symptoms. In Bavaria alone, around 270,000 people are currently affected by a dementia-related illness. As society ages, the number of people with dementia is expected to increase.
District Administrator Tanja Schweiger emphasises the importance of early support for people with dementia and their relatives. "These events are an opportunity for us to come together, learn, and support each other in our journey," she said.
The events are organised by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention, and all interested parties are cordially invited to attend or gather information about the events. For questions or registration for the respective event, contact Mrs. García Jociles at Phone 0941/ 4009-531 or email [email protected].
