Kuwait to Establish First Skin Bank and Microscopic Surgery Laboratory
Kuwait is poised to take a significant leap in healthcare innovation, as plans to establish a skin bank and a microscopic surgery laboratory are underway. These facilities are intended to improve medical services, with a particular focus on treating severe burn cases.

The Al-Babtain Burns and Plastic Surgery Center will oversee the construction of these facilities, making Kuwait home to the region's only specialized center for burn and plastic surgery. The announcement was made during the Second Multidisciplinary Kuwait Conference on Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Medicine. The event, hosted by the Al-Babtain Center in collaboration with the Kuwait Surgeons Association, brings together professionals from various specialties to promote collaborative healthcare in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
According to Dr. Mohammed Khalaf, the conference Chair and Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department, the aim is to enhance cooperation among professionals, thereby enhancing the standard of care for patients requiring complex surgical interventions.
The conference, running from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. local time, underscores Kuwait's commitment to advancing its healthcare infrastructure and improving patient care, positioning the country as a regional leader in medical innovation and burn treatment.
