The 6th Bavarian Dementia Week is set to take place across the region from the 19th to the 28th of September, 2025. This initiative aims to raise awareness, provide support, and foster understanding about dementia. Here are some of the events happening in the district of Fürth and nearby areas.
On the 16th of September, memory training sessions will be held at the citizens' house in Langenzenn. For those interested in learning more about the subject, a lecture titled 'Dementia - Myth or Truth' will be given by Doris Last on the 26th of September, also in Langenzenn.
Cadolzburg invites its residents and visitors to several events during the Dementia Week. A singing event is scheduled for the 25th of September in the large citizens' hall of the citizens' house in Cadolzburg. A cinema afternoon with coffee and cake will be offered on the 26th, from 2 to 4 pm.
Wilhermsdorf will host a senior film afternoon on the topic of dementia on the 28th of September at 3 pm. In addition, an ecumenical service with the theme 'Dementia & Remembering' will take place on the same day in Wilhermsdorf.
Visitors to the action stand in the FORUM Stein on the 26th of September, from 10 am to 2 pm, will learn about support and assistance offers in the district. The action stand will be attended by senior commissioner Tanja Maier, Yvonne Götz from the AWO specialist centre for caring relatives, and the dementia-friendly community of Stein.
In Langenzenn, a service will occur in the evangelical church on the 28th of September. A reading will take place in the citizens' house of Langenzenn on the 26th of September at 5 pm.
A dementia parcours will be held in the citizens' house of Langenzenn on the 9th of October, open from 10 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 6 pm.
The 'Demensch' exhibition, a collaboration between 'Dementia-Friendly Zirndorf' and the Sparkasse, will run for 14 days, opening at the Sparkasse in Zirndorf on the 22nd of September at 5 pm. The exhibition features the caricatures of German artist Peter Gaymann, known for his works on the subject of dementia.
A storytelling café will take place in the Haffnersgarten shed on the 23rd of September at 2:30 pm. The 'Don't forget me' Stammtisch will take place in the citizens' house of Ammerndorf on the 25th of September at 5:30 pm.
