In Landshut, the Regional Steering Alliance (RSV) is gearing up for a significant year, marking its 50th anniversary. The RSV, formerly known as the psychosocial working group (PSAG), was established to reform mental health care and has been at the forefront of mental health initiatives in the region ever since.

On June 17, 2025, Dr. Kathrin Dornes presided over the first annual general meeting as the first chairwoman of the Regional Steering Alliance in the Landshut district authority. The focus of this year is on the Psychiatry Inquiry's work, and an opening event and three action days in October have been planned to honour this important milestone.

During a recent meeting, Deputy District Administrator Fritz Wittmann emphasized the importance of mental health in society. The guest lecture, delivered by Tobias Zitzelsberger, a specialist in the field of social psychiatry and professional development, provided insights into the progression of social work and the role of social psychiatry in the realm of professional development.

Tobias Zitzelsberger, managing director of the PSAG Deggendorf and a scientific staff member at the Technical University of Deggendorf, discussed the historical development of social work and the significance of social psychiatry in professional growth. He also touched upon the evolution of social work and the role of social psychiatry in the realm of professional development.

The action days will take place at the Kinopolis Landshut and in the Salzstadel. Films will be shown at the Kinopolis featuring protagonists who deal with mental problems, aiming to raise awareness and promote understanding. Meanwhile, the theater piece "All That Beauty" will be presented at the Salzstadel, providing a unique artistic perspective on mental health issues.

The working groups "Addiction Help", "Children and Youth", "Children of Psychically Ill Parents", and "Community Psychiatry Network" have given brief activity reports, showcasing the breadth of work being done in the region to support those dealing with mental health issues.

The RSV in Landshut consists of specialists and local aid providers, networking and exchanging regularly with cost bearers to expand aid offers. The guest lecture, lecture, and upcoming events underscore the RSV's commitment to improving and expanding the regional care structure, with proposals aiming to shorten or avoid inpatient treatment by expanding outpatient treatment and counseling options.

As mental health continues to be a pressing issue, with an increasing number of people suffering from mental illnesses and growing demands on care and support, the work of the RSV is more important than ever. The jubilee year promises to be a time of reflection, celebration, and renewed commitment to improving mental health care in the Landshut region.
