Majority backs restaurant reopening in December, survey finds
In a recent survey conducted by Kantar/Emnid, public opinions on the reopening of restaurants and cultural institutions in December were revealed.
The survey showed that a majority of 78% of respondents are in favour of restaurants reopening in December, while 18% prefer them to remain closed. On the other hand, cultural institutions like museums, theaters, or cinemas are eagerly anticipated to reopen, with 68% of respondents welcoming the idea, and 28% rejecting the proposal.
Interestingly, the majority of people (59%) are against lifting contact restrictions in December, whereas 35% are in favour. This suggests a divided public opinion on the matter.
The survey also revealed that a significant number of respondents (33%) find the restrictions on public life to be strongly or very strongly affecting them. Contrastingly, the lockdown is affecting 67% of people little or not at all.
When it comes to the current coronavirus measures, a majority of 56% believe they are just right, while 24% think they are not strict enough, and 19% consider them too strict.
It's worth noting that cultural workers (Kulturakteure) were significantly represented in the survey regarding cultural policy matters amid the Covid crisis. They, like the majority of respondents, agreed that cultural institutions should reopen in December.
However, the survey did not provide any information about respondents' opinions on sharing or emailing in relation to the current situation or the December reopening plans.
In conclusion, the survey reveals a complex web of opinions on the reopening of restaurants and cultural institutions in December. While many are eager for a return to normalcy, others are concerned about the potential risks. The survey also highlights the impact of the restrictions on public life on a significant number of people, and the divided opinions on the current coronavirus measures.
