Dortmund's Nordstadt, known for its rich cultural diversity and lively scene, is set to host the North City Sessions. This informal music event series, which has been taking place since 2017, is a hub for the free music scene in the Ruhr area.
The North City Sessions, an initiative by Julia Rumi and Machbarschaft Borsig11 e.V., are funded by the Cultural Office Dortmund and supported by the residents of the Borsigplatz Quarter. The event will be held at the Welcome Tent / BVB-Founder Church, Flurstraße 8, 44145 Dortmund, and will also be streamed live on YouTube.com/machbarschaftborsig11.
The event will kick off with a live streamed performance by Abenasua, a singer from southern Germany currently residing in Cologne. Abenasua's music, which focuses on emotions, relationships, and inner worlds, often carries a dreamy and romantic tone, yet can also touch upon melancholy. Since 2023, Abenasua has been performing solo and with other artists on stages in NRW and beyond.
Following the opener, the North City Session will open its stage for further contributions. This open stage invites attendees, whether musicians or music enthusiasts, to bring their instruments and join in the jam session.
