Mid-flight turbulence results in Biman flight attendant suffering a broken arm
On September 19, 2022, a shocking incident occurred on Flight BG-0128, operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The flight, which was travelling from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka via Chattogram, encountered sudden turbulence mid-air.
Boshra Islam, General Manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the incident to our website. During the turbulence, which lasted around six seconds, Shabama Azmi Mithila, a Bangladeshi journalist who was working as a crew member on the flight, was injured.
Mithila was performing her routine duties in the cabin when the unexpected jolt caused her to lose balance and fall. As a result, she sustained a fracture above her left elbow. The turbulence occurred before the seatbelt warning signal had been switched on.
Despite the incident, the flight continued its journey and landed safely in Dhaka, as confirmed earlier. Upon arrival, the injured crew member was taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation in Dhaka for treatment.
Boshra Islam, in a statement to our website, requested prayers and support for Mithila's swift recovery. She also confirmed that no further details about the impact of the turbulence on the passengers or the flight's condition were provided.
Shabama Azmi Mithila is a well-known figure in Bangladesh, and her colleagues and fans are hoping for her speedy recovery. This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of air travel and the importance of safety procedures during turbulence.
