Minister President Visits Innovationscampus: Showcasing Heidelberg's Health + Life Science Alliance
Minister President Winfried Kretschmann and Minister of Science Petra Olschowski will visit the Innovationscampus Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim on September 4, 2025. The visit aims to highlight the strategic importance of the science location Heidelberg and to inform about the activities and developments of the Alliance, with a focus on cooperation, translation, and transfer of research results into application.
The visit will include an exchange with researchers and founders presenting their projects and startups in short presentations and live demonstrations. Prof. Dr. Kerstin Goepfrich, Prof. Dr. Michael Platten, Prof. Dr. Sandy Engelhardt, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Felix Sahm will give presentations on cooperation, translation, and transfer of research results into application. The new seminar and co-working spaces of the Alliance will be officially opened during the visit.
A 'Gallery Walk' will provide insights into innovations from research and the startup scene in various fields, such as infectious diseases, mental health, molecular engineering, and cancer neuroscience. Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wick, and Dr. Andrea Leibfried will inform about the current status, perspectives, and potential of the Health + Life Science Alliance. The Alliance was initiated by seven leading academic and non-academic research institutions in Heidelberg and Mannheim, aiming to develop the Rhine-Neckar region into an internationally visible biomedical-technological beacon.
The visit underscores the high strategic importance of the science location Heidelberg for the state of Baden-Württemberg. The Alliance is funded by the state for the establishment and use of common high-tech platforms and joint research projects with industry. The visit is expected to foster further cooperation and innovation in the health and life science sector.
