The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has provided the latest updates on the coronavirus situation in Germany.

As of today, the RKI estimates that there are around 164,500 active coronavirus cases in the country, marking a decrease of approximately 56,500 compared to the previous week. This decrease is a positive sign, indicating a continued downward trend in active cases.

The total number of people who have tested positive for the virus in Germany now stands at 3,653,500. Tragically, within the last seven days, there have been 1,284 deaths, corresponding to an average of 183 deaths per day. However, it is important to note that the figures for today are provisional and may still be corrected by the RKI.

The number of deaths within 24 hours has seen a slight increase due to the new reported deaths, bringing the total to 87,448. This number, too, is subject to potential corrections.

On a positive note, the number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Germany is approximately 3,469,000.

The incidence rate, which measures the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants within the last seven days, has fallen to 61.9. This is a decrease from the previous rate of 64.5, indicating a slow but steady decrease in new cases.

The RKI reported 6,302 new coronavirus infections on Monday morning, a further decrease of 7% compared to Sunday. This trend suggests a continuous decrease in new infections.

The current head of the Robert Koch Institute is Lothar H. Wieler. The number of tests conducted in Germany on Monday was 801,500.

It is crucial to remember that these figures are subject to change as the RKI continues to collect and verify data. The public is encouraged to follow health and safety guidelines to help curb the spread of the virus.

Stay safe and informed.
