In the face of a possible second wave of the pandemic, modern COVID hospitals across the city are readying themselves for action. These temporary COVID-19 facilities have resumed their regular operations and are even expanding their services. As an example, a state-of-the-art surgical department opened at the Second Children's Clinical Hospital in Almaty during early November.

This new department boasts three operating rooms and can cater to 50 patients.

"From emergency surgeries like general surgery, traumatology, and neurosurgery, this place has got it all. Except for burn and bite victims, who are still treated at the First Children's Hospital," revealed Alibek Zharsov, the Deputy Chief Physician of DCH No. 2.

The hospital has already started performing complex and even unique surgeries, as reported by Almaty.tv.

"Surgeries that we used to send to centers and institutes are now being done here. Think brain tumors, extreme stenosis, hydrocephalus, and all congenital abnormalities of the central nervous system and spinal cord. Our team is well-equipped and ready to handle these cases," affirmed Marat Kaptagayev, Head of the Surgical Department at DCH No. 2.

The staff of the hospital places great emphasis on technical equipment and continuous professional development. As most doctors are lifelong learners, training courses and medical expert masterclasses are common practices in the hospital. The administration and staff are eager to shoulder a significant portion of the city's medical workload.

Though specific data about the expanded functions of the Second Children's Clinical Hospital in Almaty are not widely available, this hospital is a crucial part of Almaty's healthcare system.
