The Lippe Police are offering a free E-bike safety seminar in September, aimed at improving participants' traffic safety skills. The seminar, which is part of a series of multi-day training courses initiated in spring 2025, will take place at the police premises in Waldweg 20, Detmold.
The seminar consists of two sessions, each approximately 2.5 hours long. The first session, scheduled for September 3, 2025, will focus on theoretical topics such as requirements for a traffic-safe bicycle, helmet usage, visibility in traffic, basic riding techniques, and safety measures like proper mounting, dismounting, and braking. This session will include practical exercises in a set-up course.
The second session, on September 11, 2025, will address problematic traffic situations in the area, specifically discussing the correct behaviour on an E-bike in traffic. Topics covered will include behaviour at traffic lights, blind spots, and pedestrian crossings. The session will conclude with a group ride.
Dr. Laura Merks, the press spokesperson for the Lippe Police, emphasises the importance of the seminar, stating, "Participation in both sessions of the course is required to increase traffic safety through a successful training program."
To register for the seminar, interested participants can contact the Lippe Police by phone or email. It is essential that participants bring their own E-bike and helmet to the seminar.
The seminar will run from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM for each session, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of traffic safety on E-bikes. The Lippe Police look forward to hosting this free event and helping riders navigate traffic safely and confidently.
