In a move that has sparked controversy among tenants, particularly those over 60 years old, Wohnungsbau Aalen GmbH, a housing company in Aalen, has announced plans to phase out the traditional cleaning rotation in approximately 170 of its rental buildings.

The proposed change will see tenants paying 40 euros per month for a housekeeping service, which includes cleaning, taking out the trash, and clearing snow in the affected buildings. However, not all tenants are thrilled about this proposed price, with Emine Turan and her fellow tenants expressing their reluctance.

The average age of tenants in the affected buildings is over 60, and some, like Emine Turan, have grown accustomed to the community spirit that the traditional cleaning rotation fosters. A young woman acknowledged the value of this tradition, stating that it's 'kind of ingrained' in them.

A passerby, a Swabian native, echoed these sentiments, expressing a preference for the traditional cleaning rotation. Michael Schäfer, the managing director of Wohnungsbau Aalen GmbH, however, believes offering a choice between self-cleaning and the housekeeping service is impractical due to bureaucratic hurdles.

Schäfer, who oversees the Swabian cleaning services or plans to introduce professional services, cites the results of a tenant survey and the increasing average age of tenants as the reasons for this change. The housing company has been keeping rents low for years, so the financial burden on tenants remains limited.

Emine Turan and her fellow tenants, however, doubt the thoroughness of the housekeeping service, particularly in regards to cleaning the basement and attic. The cleanliness of the buildings may be affected if tenants refuse to pay for the housekeeping service.

It's important to note that the traditional cleaning services are not being completely abolished, but are gradually being phased out in the housing company's buildings. The search results do not provide the name of the management director of Wohnungsbau Aalen GmbH who oversees this transition.

Despite the reservations of some tenants, Schäfer believes that the housekeeping service will lighten the load for its tenants, aiming to provide a service in return for the 40 euros per month fee. The Swabian cleaning services are being gradually replaced with professional services in all buildings managed by Wohnungsbau Aalen GmbH.
