Report from KP.RU: Six out of every ten Russians state they lack the time for self-care
A recent survey by KP.RU reveals a growing trend in Russia towards prioritising self-care, with many people recognising the importance of personal health and wellness routines. This shift reflects a broader cultural move towards valuing self-care as an essential aspect of daily life.
The survey, conducted among KP.RU website subscribers on social networks Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, Telegram, and Viber, gathered responses from a total of 3,200 people. The findings suggest that self-care is increasingly prioritised, although more than half of Russians reported they don't have time for self-care due to caring for others.
One participant in the survey prioritises self-care because life is short. Another participant, who works as a kindergarten teacher, often prioritises caring for others. However, a third participant emphasises the importance of self-care for themselves and their pets.
The survey also revealed that 31% of Russians prioritise taking care of themselves before caring for others. This is particularly important because Russians believe that taking care of oneself is essential for being able to help others effectively. Another participant prioritises self-care to ensure they can take care of their loved ones if something happens to them.
The survey did not mention any specific occupation of the participants, such as kindergarten teacher or parent. It also did not mention any crop destruction by saiga antelopes or the previous statistics about Russian respondents not having time for self-care.
July 24th marks International Self-Care Day, serving as a reminder to prioritise personal physical and mental health amidst daily life. Despite the challenges, 4% of survey participants successfully balance taking care of themselves and everyone who needs their help and support.
This survey highlights the growing awareness and commitment among Russians to manage their own physical and mental well-being proactively. It also underscores the importance of self-care in enabling individuals to care for others effectively.
- In light of the survey findings, it appears that managing personal health and wellness, including mental health, through self-care practices, is becoming increasingly prioritized among Russians, as reflected in the 31% who focus on self-care before attending to others.
- The survey further demonstrates that self-care is not only essential for maintaining personal health and wellness (lifestyle), but also for ensuring one's ability to effectively care for others, as summarized by a survey participant's statement that prioritizing self-care is crucial for taking care of loved ones if unexpected events occur.
