As the Kadayawan festivities approach, the Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) in the city is urging street vendors to maintain cleanliness around their stalls and strictly follow sanitation protocols.

ASU Head Paul Bermejo has stated that food vendors are considered food handlers, and their compliance with health protocols is crucial. Vendors are required to wear aprons, masks, gloves, and presentable clothes, and their health cards are checked to ensure they are in good health.

To ensure compliance, the ASU has daytime and nighttime teams of inspectors checking all areas in the city. Vendors who fail to meet sanitation requirements will face serious consequences. The ASU will confiscate their LPG tanks, and offenders may be fined up to ₱5,000 or imprisoned.

Bermejo reiterated the need for vendors to follow health protocols to avoid inconvenience. He emphasized the importance of vendor cooperation for the good of the city.

The ASU's measures are focused on preventing food poisoning incidents, especially during the Kadayawan festivities. A food poisoning incident similar to the one that happened before is being prevented by the ASU's enforcement of health protocols.

Street vendors have also been instructed to initiate street cleaning in their frequent areas. The ASU is aiming to ensure a clean and safe environment for street vendors during the festivities.

Bermejo made these statements after the weekly flag ceremony. The Kadayawan festivities are a significant event in the city, and the ASU is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and cleanliness of street vendors during this time.
