Atomic Kitten's Liz McClarnon, 44, shared some poignant insights about her IVF journey that led to her pregnancy announcement last month. Despite the joyous news, the singer admitted to feeling broken and trapped in a "dark hole" during their three unsuccessful embryo transfers in 2022.

In an honest conversation with MirrorOnline, Liz confessed, "The first time we did it, I thought, 'This will be it.' But as my third cycle came along, it was a completely different story. When that one didn't work, I was really quite sick and I was in a dark hole."

She further shared her struggles with being in the public eye while grappling with her IVF journey. "I'd put on so much weight but I didn't want to tell anyone why, because I didn't want the IVF to become my identity..."

Theiverfromtherowsneverbored shared a sweet Instagram video, which showcased Liz's elated joy as she revealed her pregnancy. The mum-to-be radiated happiness in the clip, but behind the smiles, she faced criticism from online commenters. "I remember one said, 'She's getting really thick,' and others were like 'She's unrecognisable.' It was hard to ignore those comments..."

The journey to motherhood wasn't straightforward for Liz. After years of "quite painful IVF," the couple's persistence finally paid off while classifying her pregnancy as "high risk" due to her age[1]. After a tumultuous journey filled with setbacks, they are now on their way to becoming parents.

In an emotional statement accompanying the reveal, Liz said, "I want to share what I can and add my voice and ears to those who already help others understand or deal with all that comes with IVF and loss after so much hope." She expressed her gratitude for the supportive communities she joined during her struggles.
