Taxation Alliance for the Region
The Regional Self-Help Landshut (RSV) is gearing up for a series of significant events this year, with a focus on mental health and social work. Established 50 years ago to reform the care of mentally ill people, the RSV continues to be at the forefront of driving improvements and expansions for the regional care structure.
On June 17, 2025, the RSV held its first annual general meeting, led by Dr. Kathrin Dornes. The meeting marked a new chapter in the organisation's journey, as they continue to propose improvements and expansions for the regional care structure, with a focus on shortening or avoiding inpatient treatment through the expansion of outpatient treatment and counseling services.
One of the key events planned for October is an inaugural event and three action days to honour the previous work of the Psychiatry Inquiry. These action days will take place at the Kinopolis Landshut and the Salzstadel. At the Kinopolis, feature films will be shown whose protagonists grapple with mental problems, providing a powerful platform for raising awareness and understanding.
Meanwhile, at the Salzstadel, the play 'All That Beauty' will be presented. The play promises to be a thought-provoking exploration of mental health and its impact on individuals and society.
The RSV consists of specialists and local care providers from the city and district, who are networked and exchange regularly with cost bearers to drive the expansion of support offers. One such specialist is Tobias Zitzelsberger, managing director of the PSAG Deggendorf and scientific employee at the Technical University of Deggendorf. Despite extensive searches, there are no available search results providing information about his identity as the guest speaker at the RSV's first general assembly in 2025 on 'Social Work Over Time - Social Psychiatry and Professional Profile.'
Mental health has seen a significant shift in perception, with the stigma associated with mental illnesses gradually being dismantled. This is evident in the increasing number of people seeking help for mental health issues. The number of people suffering from mental illnesses is on the rise, and the demands on care and support are growing steadily.
The deputy district administrator, Fritz Wittmann, emphasised the importance of mental health in society during the meeting. He underscored the need for continued efforts to improve mental health services and to reduce the stigma associated with mental illnesses.
The RSV's ongoing task is to continue these efforts, working tirelessly to improve the regional care structure and to provide the best possible care and support for those suffering from mental illnesses. With their upcoming events and continued dedication, the RSV is poised to make a significant impact on mental health in the region.
