Tulsa Health Department Ensures Safe Fair with Food Inspections and COVID-19 Vaccines

The Tulsa Health Department (THD) is preparing for the Tulsa State Fair, focusing on both food safety and COVID-19 vaccination. Inspectors will spend around 610 hours conducting approximately 495 food inspections during the fair, ensuring that the over 165 food booths comply with state regulations.

THD will also educate vendors about food safety and conduct frequent inspections. In addition to food safety, THD is committed to protecting fair attendees from COVID-19. More than 300 providers in Tulsa County offer free COVID-19 vaccines, including hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, health departments, and community health centers. A free walk-in clinic will be available on-site for fair attendees.

THD recommends masking indoors and in crowded outdoor areas, along with frequent handwashing or use of hand sanitizer. They advise attendees to be fully vaccinated for the best protection at large events like the Tulsa State Fair. Those receiving their COVID-19 vaccine on-site will also have the opportunity to get an influenza vaccination.

THD's efforts reflect their commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees at the Tulsa State Fair. By working closely with the fair and providing these services, THD aims to protect public health and prevent the spread of diseases.
