Urban Mobility Project Introduced in Emmendingen's Transport Sector

The nationwide STADTRADELN campaign, also known as CITY CYCLING internationally, is currently underway in Germany, encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable transportation and promote climate protection. Organized by Climate Alliance Services, a European network of local authorities committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the campaign has attracted over 3,700 participants this year.

The primary goals of STADTRADELN are to encourage sustainable transportation, foster environmental awareness, and improve cycling infrastructure. By motivating people to use bicycles instead of cars, the campaign aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote a healthier environment. It also raises awareness about the importance of sustainable mobility and its impact on climate change. Participants advocate for better cycling infrastructure in their communities, enhancing safety and accessibility for cyclists.

The STADTRADELN app, which allows participants to track their cycling routes via GPS, was likely used during the German-French tour, a special highlight of the campaign that took place on July 5. This tour, involving cyclists from both Germany and France, showcased cross-border collaboration in the STADTRADELN campaign.

The campaign is supported by various local authorities, educational institutions, and community groups, and is currently active in the District of Emmendingen. Businesses and organizations like MeKo Manufacturing and individuals on social media platforms express support for the initiative's goals. EnBW, a sponsor, is donating prizes worth a total of 2,975 euros to be raffled among all participants.

Registration for the STADTRADELN campaign is still open, and the campaign will run until July 18, with kilometer logging possible until July 25. Credit earned through the app is directly assigned to the participant's team or municipality. The campaign aims to contribute to CO2 reduction and promote health and team spirit.

The STADTRADELN campaign is supported by the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg as part of the Radkultur initiative. Despite the German-French tour, the end date of the STADTRADELN campaign remains July 18.

The STADTRADELN campaign continues to attract international participation, as demonstrated by the German-French tour. It is a testament to the growing global interest in promoting sustainable mobility and reducing carbon emissions. As the campaign progresses, it is expected that more teams and individuals will join the movement, further strengthening the commitment to a greener, more sustainable future.
