Wittekindskreis Schools Honored for 'Healthy Schools' Commitment

The 'Healthy Schools' program has been recognised in the Wittekindskreis district, with several schools receiving awards for their commitment to promoting health and well-being. The program, supported by the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt, offers free resources and contact points in the Herford district.

Renata Lleshi, an employee of the Kreis-Gesundheitsamt, presented the 'Healthy School in the Wittekindskreis' award to Katrin Wessel and Daniel Gieselmann of Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck. This school, along with Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, Grundschule in Westerenger, and Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule in Bünde and Kirchlengern, were recognised for their efforts in promoting health.

To qualify, schools must implement at least three health-promoting measures for students and one for teaching staff. At Ev. Grundschule Löhne-Obernbeck, activities included dental health, nutrition, and social skills training with external specialists. Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist, led students through exercises that improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation.

Renata Lleshi, who can be contacted for more information (05221 13-2419, r.lleshi@unser website), emphasises the importance of schools in promoting health for successful learning and personal development. The program awards a certificate to committed schools, recognising them as a 'Healthy School'.

The 'Healthy Schools in the Wittekindskreis' program continues to support schools in implementing health promotion and prevention activities. This year's recipients demonstrate the program's success in fostering healthy learning environments.
