Woman, 48, Charged After Violent Hospital Incident Injuring Two Officers
A 48-year-old woman is facing charges after a violent incident at a hospital in Karlsruhe on Saturday evening. Two police officers were injured while trying to restrain her.
The woman, heavily intoxicated and in a suspected mental crisis, had threatened to harm herself with a sharp object in the emergency room. When medical staff attempted to examine her, she became aggressive and refused treatment. Two police officers were deployed to the scene, but they were attacked and injured by the woman, who repeatedly kicked them. One officer sustained a head injury and was no longer fit for duty. The woman was eventually subdued and taken to a hospital for further examination, where her condition deteriorated. She is now standing trial in connection with the incident, facing charges including resisting arrest.
The woman's actions resulted in two police officers being injured and one officer being unable to continue their duties. She is currently in court to answer for her actions.
