In a move to address an inadequate offer from the employers, the United Services Union (ver.di) has announced a strike at the Leipzig Heart Center scheduled for August 11, 2025. The strike assembly will commence at 9:00 AM on the green space at Chemnitzer Street / Corner Prager Street.

The strike is a direct response to the employers' refusal to meet the core demands of the employees, as stated by André Urmann, ver.di's lead negotiator. Despite ten hours of negotiations, the last round of talks on July 21 did not result in an agreement.

Jennifer Roll, a nurse and member of the ver.di wage commission, reiterates that there will be no agreement below the corporate level. Certain components of previous offers, such as the allowance for assistants and additional vacation for on-call duties, were removed from the latest offer.

The striking employees will jointly discuss whether the strikes should be extended to further days, following current insights into the ongoing negotiations. A clear majority of employees support the compromise proposal by ver.di's wage commission for the further development of the house agreement. Over 90% of employees are willing to strike for an extended period.

It is noteworthy that employees in Helios hospitals in Aue, Leisnig, and Plauen earn significantly more than at the Leipzig Heart Center. This wage disparity is a significant point of contention in the ongoing negotiations.

Despite the industrial action, emergency services will ensure uninterrupted emergency care during the strike. The Helios Clinics Group is part of the Fresenius Corporation, which announced a significant increase in its forecast for revenue growth this week.

The union is open to compromise, but as Roll states, "We are open to compromise - but not at the cost of being permanently disadvantaged." If Helios does not offer a fair agreement, the employees plan to increase the pressure.

For the most up-to-date status, it is recommended to check direct news outlets or ver.di’s official communications. This article provides a general overview of the situation, but for specific details about the strike at the Leipzig Heart Center by the United Services Union (ver.di) against the Helios Clinics Group or related demands and issues, further research may be necessary.

  1. The United Services Union (ver.di) is advocating for an improvement in workplace-wellness, specifically addressing medical-conditions, as they believe the current offer from the employers at the Leipzig Heart Center does not sufficiently meet their needs, given the disparity in wages when compared to Helios hospitals.
  2. In their pursuit of health-and-wellness benefits, the striking employees are prepared to continue the industrial action until a fair agreement is reached, as over 90% of them are willing to extend the strike, with a focus on the development of the house agreement that includes their core demands.
