Zombie-like Sickness Sweeps Across Nation After Deadly E. coli Outbreak From McDonald's, Claiming One Life and Infecting 104 Others As Revealed by CDC.

Fast Food Fiasco: E. coli Outbreak Traced Back to McDonald's Onions

In a shocking turn of events, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has wrapped up its probe into the E. coli outbreak that left one dead and 104 people sick in 14 states, all linked to fresh, slivered onions served at McDonald's.

From September 12 to October 21, 2024, this outbreak affected folks ranging from 1 to 88 years, with a median age of 28. Sixty percent of the victims were males, and 84% of those interviewed reported consuming items containing fresh onions at McDonald's before falling ill.

The E. coli outbreak's aftermath was dire, with 34 people rushed to hospitals, and four developing hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a potentially lethal condition that may lead to kidney failure. The unfortunate fatality was reported in an elderly adult in Colorado.

Continuing the investigation, public health officials discovered the source of the outbreak lay in the onions used in McDonald's menu items. Despite many people recovering without medical attention, the CDC used whole genome sequencing to prove that the E. coli samples from the sick were genetically close. [1][2]

As a precaution against E. coli infections, the CDC advises adhering to food safety guidelines to prevent potential infections that cause horrific stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Overall, the E. coli outbreak was confirmed to be linked to slivered onions supplied by Taylor Farms and traced to a period between September 27 and October 21, 2024. McDonald's has discontinued using the recalled onions and switched to another supplier. However, legal actions have been filed, and the financial impact on McDonald's is significant, with the company planning to allocate $100 million for regaining consumer trust. [1][2][3]
