Zurich University Hospital's global acclaim: Exploring factors that put it in the elite league of medical institutions worldwide.
In a groundbreaking report unveiled by Newsweek magazine in the US, Zurich's University Hospital (USZ) snags the 10th spot among the world's elite hospitals. This prestigious institution also claims the top position in Switzerland.
But how were these hospitals rated?
A whopping 2,400 healthcare facilities across 30 nations were evaluated for the survey. Newsweek, partnering with the global data platform Statista, based their assessments on five key aspects: the delivery of care, promptness in care, patient experience and safety, technology integration, and employee appeal.
What sets the USZ apart?
While the report offers little insight, the hospital's website boasts about its commitment to providing "comprehensive and individualized medical care across specialties." USZ also takes pride in being the only Swiss hospital to offer certain therapies.
Notable achievements of the USZ include groundbreaking microsurgery on the lymphatic system and a significant advancement in aortic replacement surgeries, amongst other innovative treatments. Some of their practices have been developed in collaboration with the Zurich Polytechnic Institute, consistently ranked as Europe's best university.
